Lead Testing Update! Additional Important Information!
5/19/2017 11:35:25 AM

Dear Healthcare Provider,

Centers for Disease Control has issued an Advisory related to lead blood testing. It is now believed that the vacutainer used is not at fault as previously communicated by the FDA. It is now being communicated that the LeadCare analyzer should no longer be used with venous blood samples.

In light of this new information, we have changed our procedure for lead testing and will be sending samples to ARUP.  Please read the details here regarding specimen collection and the acceptable vacutainers for lead testing sample collection and review the CDC Advisory for additional information.

Thank you,
PCL Alverno

Dear Healthcare Provider,

The FDA has issued a strong recommendation to immediately discontinue the use of BD Lavender and Tan Top EDTA vacuntainer tubes for blood lead testing.  Please read this for more details on the issue and which tubes will be acceptable for lead testing.

Thank you!
